ABOUT MCLAUGHLIN COUNSELING

With almost 20 years in Boise, I have been grateful for the opportunity to raise a family and enjoy all that makes Boise a wonderful place to call home.  I completed my undergraduate degree at West Virginia Wesleyan and I pursued my Master’s in Community Counseling at Georgia State University.

My journey has taken me though the juvenile justice system as a Treatment Program Counselor and a Juvenile Court Family Counselor.  I have worked with homeless families in a transitional housing program.  I have helped parents navigate Idaho’s complex children’s mental health system of care. I have counseled individuals through relationship & family challenges, divorces, medical crisis, parental loss, teen crisis, and the anxiety & depression that comes with life transitions.

My life journey has brought me to a space where my personal and professional experiences can be utilized and interwoven with the lessons learned from those I have encountered along the way.  In counseling, I seek to understand each person and situation from a base of broad experience.  I know every individual can find their best path through thoughtful and intentional exploration.

When not working, I enjoy being with family, particularly my adult children, and good friends.  I am happiest when on a trail with either a bike, backpack, skis or a Golden Retriever.  Opportunities to venture into the backcountry away from the noise and busyness of the “front-country” is a regular practice in self-care, remaining grounded and FUN.
